Sourdough Pancakes- Delish!

Just when I thought I feel in love with Krusteaz pancakes I worked up the nerve to make a delicious pancake mix that involves simple ingredients that I keep in my home.

Remember that sourdough starter recipe that I shared with you? Well this is the star of the show and this is the first recipe that we're sharing using that delicious starter. Stay tuned because there's more to come!


The next star of the show is this beautiful 12' cast iron skillet that I recently purchased from the Magnolia collection at Target. The price was just right at $39 and it's easy on the eyes as well!















Here's a simple recipe for making sourdough pancakes:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup sourdough starter

  • 1/2 cup milk ( I prefer almond, coconut, or cashew milk)

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 egg

  • 1 1/2 tablespoon honey

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted


Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sourdough starter, milk, egg, and honey until well combined.

  2. In a separate small bowl, mix together the baking soda and salt. Add this mixture to the batter and stir until just combined.

  3. Stir in the melted butter.

  4. Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat. Grease with butter or oil.

  5. Using a 1/4 cup measure, pour the pancake batter onto the griddle or skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes on the other side, until golden brown.

  6. Serve warm with your favorite toppings, such as butter, syrup, fruit, or whipped cream.

Note: If you prefer a thinner batter, you can add more milk to the mixture. You can also adjust the sweetness level by adding more or less honey to the batter. Enjoy your delicious and tangy sourdough pancakes!
