Plus 8 design principles that were highlighted by the developers of Big Cove Village!
Hey there, health-conscious folks of Owens Cross Roads! Most of you probably read my first article about the announcement of Big Cove Village HERE. Today, let's talk about an exciting topic that has the power to transform our lives - the influence of health and wellness on the design principles of the upcoming Big Cove Village.
Understandably so, many are wondering how this new community can take our quality of living to new heights!
Aren't things great already? Well maybe for some.
When it comes to creating a space that promotes health and wellness, the design principles play a crucial role. And let me tell you, Big Cove Village wants to raise the bar in this area! Careful thought has been put into crafting a neighborhood that supports our well-being in multiple ways by understanding the DNA of our community. I spent many years as a resident of Hampton Cove wondering why we don't have a place to connect outside of our homes? But, I also left the Washington DC area for a reason- too much congestion!
One of the first things I noticed in the design plan is the abundance of green spaces, bike and walking paths throughout the village. Imagine taking a leisurely stroll through beautifully landscaped parks, breathing in the fresh air, and soaking up the natural beauty that surrounds us. It's the perfect opportunity to connect with nature and embrace an active lifestyle.
The greatest wealth is health!
Big Cove Village is prioritizing access to fitness amenities and recreational facilities. Many local people have stressed the importance of having dedicated spaces for things like yoga and meditation. Whether you're an exercise enthusiast or simply looking to improve your well-being, these amenities will provide the perfect setting to stay active and nurture our bodies and minds.
Now, let's talk about the design of the homes in Big Cove Village. Although the plan is in motion, we can probably rule out the idea of high-rises in this community. With wellness in mind, the structures and green areas are being crafted to enhance natural light, ventilation, and overall comfort. Imagine waking up to sun-kissed rooms, a gentle breeze flowing through your living space and the breathtaking view of the mountains that we all love. It's these thoughtful touches that can positively impact our mood, productivity, and overall well-being.
When it comes to the design of Big Cove Village don't take my word for it. Below you will find 8 design principles that were highlighted by the developers of Big Cove Village:
Create a series of distinct neighborhoods and precincts with diversity of uses and housing types.
Create an active environment where proximity to shops, work, recreation, and local businesses create a memorable experience that is uniquely Huntsville.
Create a walkable village environment with shops, cafes, small businesses with apartments above.
Surround the village centre with a series of single family neighborhood that include a mix of attached and detached houses.
Create a park system throughout the village featuring native plantings and creek restoration throughout the site.
Connect the neighborhood parts to the regional greenway system, specifically Blevins Gap Nature Preserve to the west and Big Cove Greenway to the east.
Design architecture that reflects the region's traditions.
Design a public space that is accessible and highly sociable, and attractive to a diverse population.
Additionally, my hope is that Big Cove Village will incorporate smart design choices to promote sustainable living. Energy-efficient appliances, green building materials, and recycling programs are just a few examples. By reducing our ecological footprint, we not only contribute to the health of our planet but also create a healthier living environment for ourselves and future generations.
Last but not least, I believe that Big Cove Village will foster a strong sense of community! A community where neighbors can come together to support one another's health and wellness goals. As a mom who always seems to be in a time crunch, being able to walk to a cafe where I know the owner and not having to travel across the mountain to connect with like minded individuals is a HUGE plus for me! I Imagine us participating in group fitness classes, organizing wellness challenges, or simply having a network of like-minded individuals to share knowledge and encouragement. The power of community is truly incredible!
As we eagerly await more information and the arrival of Big Cove Village, let's first celebrate its commitment to health and wellness that is at the core of its design principles. From ample green spaces and fitness amenities to sustainable living choices and a supportive community, this new development has the potential to enhance our quality of living in countless ways.
